Today was my Lola Ruth's funeral. It was really beautiful the way it turned out. I arrived in Duarte yesterday with my uncles and aunties.. it's funny.. they're always trying to hook me up with my 3rd & 4th cousins.. like seriously get us married.. you're probably cringing because ppl in the states don't understand that.. but it happens in the Melendres clan.. has a lot to do with the family history.. they had practical reasons for it.
Anyway, everybody's taking my Lola Ruth's death quite well and the events that have been occuring throughout the family have really strenthened my faith in life after death. I used to say that I come from a weird family background.. weird as in supernatural and stuff like that.. but now phenomenae is happening so often that it's become usual now. This is again, something that a lot of ppl outside my family wouldn't understand. But it has made me realize that dying isn't such a bad idea.. when my time comes. I can be with the family I wish I knew.
It's weird, only at funerals do you see relatives that you either haven't seen in ages or never met before. My grandma's death has brought us all closer. If anything good came from it, this is it. I'm a little excited.. I finally met two of my Bay Area cousins.. Michael and Ashley.. they're pretty coo ppl.. I'm soo out of the loop with my Bay Area family.. all my cousins over there got like a clique thing goin.. very intimidating.. but hopefully I'll get to know some of them a little better.
So there's the Bay Area Melendreses and the Canadian-Washington Melendreses.. I have yet to meet my Massachussets, Rhode Island, Texas, New Jersey, and Maryland Melendres.. not to mention the clan in Tanay, Rizal, Philippines. Sooo many cousins.. over a hundred!! We really are a big family.. I didn't realize it till now but dang.
My Estanislao roots are pretty widespread too.. and I don't know too much about my Catabas family.. they aren't very close to each other but one day, maybe. Anyway, I don't know where this post id going.. I'm just excited about family. Talagang masayang masaya dito! It's always nice to have a lot of family around. Thank you, lola.. maraming salamat po. And thank you Lord God for everything.
